Googledocs.com trolling for user credentials to google sites?

Today I went in to update my google docs site with some new information for my team. For some reason (call it early morning fog), I went to googledocs.com instead of docs.google.com. The site rendered nothing, but did throw up a browser authentication dialog. I tried a few nonsense userid/password combinations with no satisfaction. Just for grins, I created a gmail account and tried those credentials to see if the site was proxying the information through in a credential-trolling exercise, but continued to be presented with an authentication dialog.

McAfee says it’s not evil but I’m not convinced. I’ll continue to check this out this week.
